This 1938 20th Century-Fox release is one of the all-time great musical productions
and features the Academy Award-winning Musical Direction of Alfred Newman.
The CD has been produced from the original music masters preserved in the Fox Music
archives. In addition to all the songs and underscoring from the picture, the album
contains several vocal as well as instrumental outtakes.

Heard on the CD are Alice Faye, Ethel Merman, Don Ameche, Jack Haley, Wally Vernon,
Don Douglas and 20th Century Fox chorus under the supervision of Charles Henderson.
Previously unheard selections include Jack Haley singing "In My Harem"; Don Ameche singing
"Some Sunny Day"; Ethel Merman singing "Slumming On Park Avenue" as well as
the picture's signature tune "Marching Along With Time" (previously issued by Rhino Records).
Also new will are instrumentals such as "He's A Rag Picker", "Remember", "Let's Face the Music
and Dance", and "Top Hat, White Tie and Tails."

ALEXANDER'S RAGTIME BAND not only features one of the single greatest collections of
American standard tunes, all by Irving Berlin, but is one of the benchmarks in
musical adaptation and arrangements. Orchestrations for the picture were by Edward Powell.
Notes for ALEXANDER'S RAGTIME BAND have been written by entertainer
and musical historian Michael Feinstein.
